Recycle Jalna Yoghourt Tubs & Lids
Jalna Dairy Foods’ vision to produce nutritious foods in a healthy environment extends to a concern for sustainability. Jalna’s distinctive packaging – unlike most yoghourt tubs - can be recycled.
Confusion about what can be recycled as more local councils introduce recycling bins means many households are not recycling Jalna yoghourt tubs, bottles and lids, even though they are accepted.
Jalna Dairy Foods is one of the few dairy companies to use recyclable plastics in packaging, so they can be collected for conversion to non-food containers, saving land fill sites and generally conserving energy, according to John Schofield, Quality Assurance Manager, Jalna Dairy Foods.
Environmentally sustainable
“Jalna use food-grade HDPE plastic to make Jalna yoghourt tubs and bottles,” says John Schofield. “These bear the embossed recyclable symbol “2”. LDPE plastic is used to make Jalna lids and bottle tops and these carry the embossed “4” recycle symbol. Our tubs, bottles and lids can all be recycled.
“While most yoghourt producers don’t use recyclable containers, Jalna is committed to producing healthy dairy foods in an environmentally sustainable manner, and we want to encourage households to recycle Jalna yoghourt tubs, bottles and lids.
“The confusion arose as many margarine, ice cream and yoghourt tubs are made from non-recyclable plastics, so these products were identified in information about recycling as needing to be excluded when households recycled their waste. But all Jalna Yoghourt tubs and Jalna Yoghourt On The Go bottles plus their lids and tops can safely be added to recycling bins,” John Schofield advises.
