Jalna Dairy Foods sponsors the Osteoporosis Sydney Support Group’s annual walk by donating Jalna yoghourt or drinking yoghourt to those who take part. In 2010 the walk commences at 10am on Sunday, July 25 from Peter Depena Reserve at Dolls Point, heading north along the boardwalk edging Botany Bay, towards Brighton Le Sands, returning to Dolls Point.

Ten years ago the Department of Endocrinology at St George Hospital, formed the Osteoporosis Sydney Support Group, a non profit organization, under the auspices of Endocrinologist and Bone Mineral Specialist Professor Terry Diamond.  Professor Diamond felt there was a need for Osteoporosis sufferers to learn more about the disease and how to manage this debilitating condition. Osteoporosis is a disease of brittle bones. Loss of bone mineral (calcium) leads to weakening of the skeleton, fragility and bony fractures. In Australia one in two women and one in five men aged 70 years and older suffer from osteoporosis.
